Petraeus Refuses to Accept Responsibility for Rice’s Benghazi Lies

November 16, 2012

The release of the so-called CIA talking points yesterday were meant to preempt Petraeus’ testimony today and pass the blame for UN Ambassador Rice’s lies over to the CIA and Petraeus. With little left to lose, Petraeus refused to accept responsibility for the so-called “talking points” and has said that he believed that Benghazi was an Al-Qaeda attack all along.
House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Peter King, R- N.Y. told reporters Friday morning after Petraeus testified that the initial “talking points” from the Obama administration to prepare officials for what they should say publicly in the first days after the attack had been changed to delete references to any al Qaida involvement in the event.
King said he and his colleagues now needed to hear testimony from officials in the State Department, the Defense Department, “and also people at the White House – to see if anyone at the White House changed the talking points.”
So we have a set of talking points that are being used by Obama and his cronies to cover their lies on Benghazi. If Petraeus won’t accept responsibility for them, they will find some fall guy in the CIA who will.

In his closed door meeting on the Hill,  “[Petraeus] will also say he had his own talking points separate from U.N. ambassador Susan Rice. [Hers] came from somewhere other in the administration than his direct talking points,” Barbara Starr of CNN reports, referencing a source close to Petraeus.
The former CIA director will move to further himself from comments that didn’t accurately characterize the terror attack that Rice made 5 days after on national television shows.
“When he looks at what Susan Rice said,” CNN reports, “here is what Petraeus’s take is, according to my source. Petraeus developed some talking points laying it all out. those talking points as always were approved by the intelligence community. But then he sees Susan Rice make her statements and he sees input from other areas of the administration. Petraeus — it is believed — will tell the committee he is not certain where Susan Rice got all of her information.”
All this is DC business as usual. The talking points are a red herring. They’re a blank check for covering a lie that the Obama administration decided to tell. They mean absolutely nothing.

A decision was made to lie to the American people about Benghazi. And that lie was carried on by Obama and everyone below him. Susan Rice did much of the lying, but so did Obama.
